The circlettes of stars, the demure and curving shapes and the statuesque promenade of the models conjured up several visions for this observer.
The South American Madonna’s, the great days of Romeo Gigli and the romance of a medieval manuscript. There was a Book of the Hours bejewelled and painted quality to the mood and atmosphere of the pieces.
The colours from violet on mauve on purple, to the whiplash of neon, was fabulous. The clothes moved and fluttered and draped, with all the exquisite techniques involved in their making.
The cascades of taffeta ribbons of a dress, the ruffling and unfurling of the petals of a minuscule jacket or the tiered and the shaded plisse ruffles of a cape, each enchanting the viewer whilst gasping at the couture workmanship.
The collection brought together all Maurizio Galante’s gifts and visions into one enchanting fashion moment. His hand and eye never faltered as he presented each piece for our delight and delectation, like a sumptuous fashion banquet.
The images you will see are lovely, but being there with them in front of one’s eyes was a truly magical fashion moment.
