The company is owned by Alain Wertheimer and Gérard Wertheimer, grandsons of Pierre Wertheimer, who was an early business partner of the couturière Coco Chanel. In her youth, Gabrielle Chanel gained the nickname “Coco” from her time as a chanteuse.
