Original designer, leader in the sector who with his creations contributes to making the Made in Italy known throughout the world.
His autobiography: Andare Lontano Viaggiando, tells about his life, and he does it by involving us and making us passionate.
In this long and interesting interview he tells us about his most exciting Journey and his dream that never came true.

1) What was the goal that most excited him during his long and brilliant career?
Surely in ’96, when the UN commission, at the time chaired by Kofi Annan, they chose me as stylist of the year to award me the prestigious “TIME FOR PEACE” award, delivered at Carnegie Hall in New York, together with great personalities from the world of culture, medicine, science, cinema and music, and I was in the dressing room with Celine Dion, awarded.
Then during the evening before the award was withdrawn, model Veronica Webb walked the runway wearing one of my design especially for the evening. The reason for the award was that with my aphorisms “Style has no borders and “More important than fashion is style, more precious than style … a smile”, I had earned my nickname of “Traveling Stylist”. A very exciting evening, which ended with an excellent “dinner” where I met actor Harrison Ford, Adrien Brody, Dustin Hoffman and many other characters. Some of which, on once on a visit to Milan, they came to visit me in my boutique in via Montenapoleone.
His art expresses a strong sense of freedom, desire to travel, thirst for discovery, elegance and practicality.
From his creations the soul of the artist also shines through with a passion for travel, always looking for unexplored worlds not only physical but also internal linked to the soul.
2) If it were to rank the things that the more they have value in your life, what place would you give to travel?
Travel is certainly in first place, because since childhood it was my dream, and as I made them I added to mine extraordinary life experiences that only travel, the conquest of new territories, the knowledge of new ways of living, food, religions, ethnicities, thoughts made me feel truly part of the world.
Obviously, adding values ?? such as respect, friendship, ethics, sincerity, culture, and the exchanges of opinions that help so much to conceive many worlds, not just one’s own where we live or were born. I love being around people, the street is the best learning you can do!
3) Would you like to tell us about one of your most surprising and fascinating travels?
At a young age I discovered Turkey and was fascinated by the wonder of that country so rich in history, cultures, landscapes, that I went back 5 years in a row to visit it in all its regions.
A stop in Istanbul, then Cappadocia, Ephesus, Smyrna, the coast south, the borders with Syria and Jordan, then Kusadasi, and finally the Bosphorus with its fascinating houses on the banks and also the endless steppes of the town center. Then I was stunned by another trip, to which I immediately said no, fearing the cold, but 5 minutes later I changed my mind and left for the Swedish Lapland, for a parade in Kiruna, in the Ice Hotel.

I was also lucky enough to attend to a spectacle of nature like the Northern Lights. And the cold was absolutely relative to beauty of the expanses of immaculate white snow, a silence so muffled that not even in front of a reindeer that you crosses the road it was impossible to utter a word: only amazement!
Your autobiography “Going far away by traveling” is a very engaging, intense and in able to touch the sensitivity of the reader, where she is tells with great sincerity, talking about his life, the difficulties encountered, the successes, of the joys, of his strength in getting involved without giving up I wanted to ask her in this regard:
4) “if you could go back, what would you not do again or would he do it again in the course of his personal life and career? “

On balance I would not change anything, because even if I waited a long time for find my professional identity, all the experiences made in 30 years
of apprenticeships were wonderful and I recommend to all young people of do not rush to seek immediate confirmation … raise the bar of your expectations, and when the dream comes true, it will be “worldwide”!
5) What is your biggest dream ever realized?
I would like to live another 100 years, not for the sense of immortality, but to visit, and soon it will be possible, planets such as the Moon or Mars …
after all, what better dream for a traveler? .. Meanwhile, the knowledge of my Italy, palm by hand it was accomplished and I continue to discover it, then the 96 countries visited have gratified me and certainly I will soon make others on this planet …. but the Moon and Mars will remain dreams! And constantly having other dreams it is only the certainty that we are alive, simple and humble in the face of the immensity of the Universe!
