This Spring/Summer 2019 centered on a collection of breezy yet crisp looks that were perfectly suited to the office. Looks which also could follow after for summer cocktails or a workout on the waters edge.
Soft and layered asymmetrical tailoring complemented a pallet base of ultra white, plaster, smoke and anthracite. This being ground zero from where the collection climbed in colored heights of eye-popping orange, ultra-marine and electric canary.
Stoned linen soft shouldered suit jackets with flat-folds for lapels and pants with enlarged exterior inseams were one highlighted look. The show notes explained that the mantra for the show was “Sisu”– a Finnish concept that can roughly be translated as a combination of determination and a stoic, stiff upper-lipped sort of gutsiness. The looks were strong in feminine individualism created through bold and drapey tailored shapes and bright color highlights. The ulterior universe in a Aalto world where a woman looked and could play hard-ball only as ladies can, without being man or man’s ideal.
Not all was so serious in this new Aalto world, for these looks complemented other plucky after-work options: such as cowgirl workout wear.
At the show, viewers were happy to see- that when playing sports, cowgirl’s still keep their hats on!
