Brexit consequences for Laura Ashley : considerable market uncertainty

Brexit on their mind. Laura Ashley, controlled by the Malaysian group MUI, has reported an annual loss of £14 million. The British retailer was the subject of store closures and “considerable market uncertainty”.

Its floral home furnishing business didn’t survive Brexit anxieties: demand for decorating products was down 14%.

Clothing though, was a notable success as demure 1970s style dresses are enjoying a revival. Fashion shot up by 9%.
