LVMH and Rihanna’s fashion venture is getting some traction. The new label called Fenty will present its first collection on May 22 in Paris. Rihanna is a 49.99% shareholder in the company, LVMH which has put up €30 million in the venture, owns the other half. Bernard Arnault, LVMH chairman, rarely launches a fashion brand from scratch, but he knows Rihanna from their previous partnership Fenty Beauty. “I discovered a true entrepreneur” he says.

The luxury brand, to be launched on May 22 by the French group LVMH and Rihanna, will include ready-to-wear and leather goods. The singer already owns the successful sportswear brand Fenty and helped to turn Puma’s sales back when she was the creative director.

Rihanna and LVMH Confirm the Debut of Maison Fenty on May 22

The luxury giant LVMH, owned by French businessman Bernard Arnault, announced last Friday the “imminent launch”, in the spring, with the pop diva Rihanna, a luxury brand encompassing ready-to-wear and leather goods, with headquarters in Paris.

The French group, owner of Dior, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Givenchy and “Robyn Rihanna Fenty have joined forces to create a new “Luxury Maison”,” said LVMH in a statement.

Born in Barbados, the 31-year-old star, who already owns the successful sportswear brand Fenty, is a regular in fashion shows – especially those at Dior – and has also proven herself to be a savvy designer. In addition to her Fenty line, she helped drive sales at Puma when she was creative director. The singer has also launched into lingerie and has become a powerful “influencer”, with fans and seven million people who follow her on social networks.
