This season Anaïs Jourden spoke of “neo- bougoise and elegance” two of this seasons most popular buzz words.
The collection she sent out certainly had these qualities in abundance. The final dress perhaps summed it all up. In tiny dot print mousseline over a pale lemon and mint swirly lace, the silhouette was a neat round neck, defined waist, and gentle, low asymmetric flounce.
The extra long sleeves finished with old silver lace cuffs and the silver sandals to complete the look all spoke of a refined elegance without a strict edge. The scissored finish to the fabric gave modernity to slight Art Deco image. Earlier the show had some great jackets, cardigan style, and also faux fur looks conjuring up images of Silver Screen premieres under massive arc lights back in the 1930’s and 1940’s, bourgeois glamour indeed.
The mainly monochrome palette and the predominantly below the knee lengths strengthens this grown up feeling to the collection. Dance dresses, cocktail dresses, and only three pairs of trousers emphasised the femininity of the collection, very much Jourden’s signature from her very first collection.
Certainly this season her established clients should be very happy and many other new ones should discover her.
