Anton Belinskiy, Life is a party
Anton Belinskiy RTW 19 – Fall-winter 2019 collection
Monday 4th March 2019 Forum des Halles, Paris
The film which played before the show, set the deal for the delights which followed in the collection. Plus this wonderful statement which summarises the thought behind the collection.
“ At a New Years kindergarten party I was once a stargazer. For this collection I dressed all the mothers and children of that 1997 play”.
Indeed Anton dressed a whole cast of characters; each of whom was worn by an individual model and where a million fragments of creative storytelling fused into one great collection. It was like I imagine going to a Diaghilev premier.
As each person appeared the excitement of wondering who Wouk appear next mounted. The cone hats, weird masks and extra details only added to the atmosphere but never took away from the clothes, rather they completed each character. Stand outs amongst so many terrific looks were the following.
The orange trapeze lines trench dress with a dip hem, and the front tightly belated, shown with the sleeves pushed right up the arm and long white gloves and white boots.
A long slender skirt in chalky beige with a side ruche effect shown with a floral watercolour print blouse , and a geometric shift in black blue and white over striped tights worn with a long fringed scarf and patent cone hat.
My favourite was a red patent like dress with a short bubble skirt shown over floor length black patent like skirt, the models hands were in the side pockets of the skirt emphasising the brilliant silhouette thus created.
Also a top in oversize black and white stripes with a huge matching scarf worn with slim red trousers in the same patent like fabric. If I’m not careful I will describe each and every outfit in the show.
The finale had the entire cast file on stage in rows to whoops and cheers from the audience.
Well deserved I had just time to rush backstage and hug the designer and say “ your best ever collection”.
Why because it came from his heart and his personal view of fashion right now.
